3.13. The Citizenship Review Mirror

(Location: Interior of Mobile Processing Bus 7)

Description:
A derelict bus, half-swallowed by earth, holds a rearview mirror labeled *Citizenship Review.* Juna peers into it and sees herself delivering a speech in a uniform she never owned. Judai looks and sees his childhood home plastered in national insignia he doesn’t remember choosing. “It reflects the country you were told you lived in,” Juna mutters. Old punch cards litter the seats, each reading: *Admittance Pending Retrospective Consent.* A screen mounted to the ceiling flashes test questions, all subjective. The doors are welded shut. The windows show no outside world—only other passengers reviewing their own state-issued pasts. This bus never drove anywhere. It simply waited for enough doubt to become a country of its own.

Keywords:
##retrospective nationality
##memory distortion processing
##mirrored belonging
##mobile review state
##subconscious citizenship

Very Short Story:
Judai wiped the mirror. His reflection saluted, even though he didn’t. Juna's mirrored image turned its back on her. “It’s not how we are,” she said, “it’s how the country pretended we were.” They sat on the rusted bench while the bus groaned with old allegiance. The screen blinked: *Test Failed: Inconsistent Patriotism.* They both smiled at that. “Maybe failing is how you belong here,” Judai whispered. The engine never turned over, but they could feel it idling.
