7.25. The Observatory Floor That Changed Direction
(Location: Main Dome Observation Platform, JOAC)
Description:
They returned to the central dome on a still morning. Juna noticed it first: the compass at her feet—etched into the floor since 1933—no longer pointed north. It pointed toward Hiroshima. Judai tapped his pen on the N mark. It flickered. “What defines direction?” he asked. A technician walked by and mumbled, “Calibration drift.” But Judai knew better. Something beneath the building had shifted. They stepped along the new line. Each step activated archival footage on nearby monitors—Betty at a press conference, a UFO dissolving over Gifu, a rehearsal of silence. The final step returned them to center. But the compass remained changed.

Very Short Story:
As they stood, the dome's ceiling rotated. Not visually—but orientationally. Juna swore the light entered differently. “Maybe we rotated,” she said. “Or maybe north just apologized.” The monitors replayed fragments backward: a rewind of 1960s futures. Judai placed his notebook in the compass circle. It spun slowly. When he picked it up, the ink had turned slightly red. The final frame on the screen was a white field. But the caption read: *Her decision was weather.*
