Description:
This narrow room contains shelves of dormant instruments: sundials, lightmeters, Geiger counters, magnetoscopes—all marked with red wax seals. A label on the door reads: *Devices of Denial.* Each object has a tag explaining what it refused: *Refused Light*, *Refused North*, *Refused Sound When Invoked.* Juna lifts a handheld spectrometer—it blinks once, then displays only a question mark. Judai scrolls through an old touchscreen terminal labeled *Counter-Measures*: each menu item links to *No Data.* A voice recording plays on loop in the annex hallway: *When the tools stop believing, calibration ends.* Behind one cabinet, they find a warped mirror labeled *True Zero.* Juna stares into it. Her reflection steps away. Judai’s notebook now records in invisible ink.

Very Short Story:
The spectrometer turned cold in Juna’s hands. Judai waved a magnetometer above his head. It blinked the word “NO.” “They’re no longer compliant,” he muttered. “They’re expressing preference.” One sundial began spinning in full circles. A map in the corner—labeled “Former Readings”—was blank. “Even instruments,” Juna said, “get tired of measuring things that lie.” The hallway lights flickered, and their own shadows seemed to hesitate. As they left, a Geiger counter whispered: *Belief unavailable.*
