3.15. The National Myth Correction Bureau

(Location: Office 82, Story Rectification Complex)

Description:
A peeling sign reads: *Myth Correction in Progress.* The hallway is lined with broken statues—heroes without heads, villains holding flowers. Inside, a team of machines hums quietly, rewriting foundational legends on thermal paper. Judai reads a version of the nation’s founding in which no battles happened—only long conversations under trees. Juna finds a reel labeled *Propaganda Removal 4C*, which plays a birthday party mistaken for a revolution. “They’re not falsifying history,” she notes, “they’re draining it of certainty.” The staff has long since departed. Only the machines remain, cycling through legends, smoothing over trauma with abstraction. “It’s not about truth anymore,” Judai says. “It’s about survivability.” They leave without fixing anything. That, too, is part of the process.

Keywords:
##mythological reformatting
##legend neutralization
##historical survivability
##uncertain origins
##narrative softening

Very Short Story:
Judai sat beneath the projector. It showed a scene of pioneers politely declining conquest. Juna flipped through a binder of corrections: *Hero changed to multiple contributors.* “They’ve edited the belief out of the belief,” she said. A machine beeped and printed a sticker: *Myth Status: Nonbinding.* They affixed it to their memory. “It’s all safer now,” Judai said, “but less alive.” Outside, the air smelled like unfinished stories.
