2.3. The 47 Characters
(Location: Radio Wall, Room of Transmission Errors)
Description:
Pinned to the wall are 47 symbols — each drawn on a sticky note, each with a shadow behind it, like a character trying to escape its outline. Juna reads them aloud. “These aren’t kanji,” she says. “They’re time codes pretending to be language.” Judai’s computer attempts to process the symbols, but a memory error interrupts the operation every 47 seconds. With each glitch, the characters rearrange. On the 6th cycle, they briefly form a sentence: “You were here.” But it fades. Juna believes these are names from a cast list of a movie never filmed. Judai thinks they’re station stops on a rail line that only exists at full moon. Both agree: these characters are alive, but in reverse.

They wrote the 47 characters down — again. The wall didn’t accept ink. Only memory. Each time Judai scrolled through the file, one name changed. “They’re cycling,” he said. Juna nodded. “Each time we fail to remember, they rotate into someone else’s story.” The wall beeped, then hissed. The computer tried to reboot, but only showed a mirror. Inside it: 47 people, looking back.
