14.11. The Broadcast Tower That Refused to Fall

Location: Former NHK Relay Mast, Mount Miwa
Description:
Long after NHK decommissioned the relay mast on Mount Miwa, it remains standing, even after scheduled demolition. Workers report their explosives fail to ignite near it, or explode but leave the structure untouched. From below, the tower flickers with energy undetectable by standard tools. Judai climbs halfway, notebook fluttering, and notes the inscriptions etched into each steel rung: *broadcast never ends*. At the summit, antennas are bent—deliberately, as if the structure is listening backward. Juna finds ghost frogs at the base, all facing the same direction. It transmits nothing, yet affects nearby weather, sleep cycles, even electricity. This mast isn’t just resistant—it’s broadcasting refusal itself. To fall would be to admit the war was over. And it isn’t.

Keywords:
##imperial refusal tower
##Miwa signal node
##explosive immunity
##eternal transmission
##passive broadcast field

Very Short Story:
Judai pressed his ear to the metal. It sang—not music, but a single word, stretched. “Continue.” Juna pointed to a squirrel’s nest woven from coaxial cable. Birds circled the mast but never landed. “It's part of the sky now,” she said. “Or the sky is part of it.” At dusk, they waited for the power to flicker. Instead, Juna's wristwatch reversed direction. “Backwards time,” Judai muttered. “Signal of resistance.” The tower would not fall because it had already risen in a future that didn’t know loss.
