10.25. The Map Drawn Only From Echo

(Location: Interference Chamber 1B, Museum Sub-Level)

Description:
The room was lined with padded mesh—acoustically neutral. At the center, a table holding nothing but a brass rod. Juna struck the rod with a pencil. A reverberation filled the room, echoing in impossible directions. A screen on the wall lit up with a diagram: lines, curves, arches. Judai recognized the general layout of the tomb—but shifted, incomplete. He struck the rod again. The map evolved. Echoes revealed not the current state, but a probable one. Each sound sketched a new future. A folded annex. A missing tower. A stairway they had just walked. “It’s not echo,” Juna realized. “It’s cartography of intent.”

Keywords:
##sonic topography interface
##map by reverberation
##intentional structure echo
##acoustic memory prediction
##probable space rendering

Very Short Story:
They echoed five times. Each map changed. At the sixth strike, the screen dimmed. No diagram appeared. Instead, the walls began to hum—low and steady. “We’ve reached the point where the building no longer wants to be mapped,” Judai said. The rod grew cold. They left, but the sound followed.
